Microsoft taking on the responsibility of providing a decent free antivirus solution

http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It’s reported that this new security solution came in at 2nd place to Sophos AntiVirus in a recent test showing Microsoft has come a long way in the AntiVirus stakes. I really do commend them for providing a free AV solution to any genuine version of Windows, although I still think this should be bundled with the OS as standard as it is imperative these days to be secure from day one.

Still. It is good to see that steps are being made to ensure customers safety let’s hope this route is continued with the correct resources it deserves. In a time when Microsoft seems to get poor postings I say “Good for you Microsoft!”.

Protect younger children with a safer web experience

http://kidrocket.org/

KidRocket is a web browser for kids, that also protects your desktop from click happy little fingers! Instead of letting the browser have access to the whole world wide web and ‘trying’ to filter out the bad content, like most childrens internet browsers and filtering software do. KidRocket blocks out the entire internet and only lets the browser access limited, top quality, child related web sites.
